Enter May, 2012. I graduate with departmental honors from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelor's degree in Writing Seminars. Shortly after, I go to Europe with my (now) fiance and we live there for 6 months. All is well, but then in 2013 he starts medical school and I am left alone with my own thoughts while I work for a local pet supply store. This is where things start to go wrong.
After nearly a year of working at the store, I, once again, must face the fact that I am bored. Rather than force myself to stay, I move on. I thought that this would immediately make things better, but instead, I just developed a new kind of home boredom, which in all reality was even worse than at-work boredom. Several months go by like this, and eventually I feel at my wit's end. One day, as I'm looking through a graduate program catalog, I suddenly remember a friend of mine mentioning her experience with Makers Academy and coding, and I decide to look into it. Intrigued by everything I saw on their website, I took it upon myself to take some free online coding tutorials just in case against all my perceptions of coding, I might actually like it. Low and behold, that was one of the best decisions I ever made. After talking to my friend some more and familiarizing myself with the Makers Academy program, I applied and got an interview. For two or three agonizingly long days I waited for a reply. I got in.
All of my subsequent posts will detail the mundane, the extraordinary, the good, the bad and the downright ugly of whatever lies ahead of me. To all my lovely readers and fellow coders, stay wonderful, and may the code be with you.
